PROJECT SUMMARY
New Millennium Academy partnered with Light Codes to refresh its brand and support the development of a new website experience that better reflected the school's growth, values, and community.
Rather than creating a completely new identity, the goal was to thoughtfully evolve the existing brand in a way that felt more modern, cohesive, and aligned while preserving the cultural significance already embedded within it.
The engagement included brand strategy, visual identity refinement, stylescapes, graphic assets, and website brand direction.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As New Millennium Academy continued to grow, leadership recognized the need for a more modern website experience that would better serve students, families, staff, and prospective community members.
While the website clearly needed improvement, conversations around the brand required a thoughtful approach. The existing identity had become familiar to the community and contained cultural symbolism that remained important to the school's story and values.
The challenge was not simply modernization. It was finding a path forward that honored the school's history while creating a more cohesive and contemporary experience capable of supporting its future.
OUR APPROACH
From the beginning, it was important that the process felt collaborative, respectful, and grounded in the school's existing identity.
Rather than pursuing a dramatic redesign, we focused on identifying the strongest elements of the brand and exploring how they could be refined, strengthened, and modernized. Through stylescapes, visual exploration, and stakeholder collaboration, we developed a direction that balanced familiarity with evolution.
The goal was to create a bridge between the school's past and future while maintaining the trust already established within the community.
HONORING HERITAGE, INSPIRING THE FUTURE
One of the most important aspects of the project was preserving the cultural meaning already present within the brand.
At the center of the identity was a Hmong-inspired symbol that had become an important part of the school's connection to the community it serves. Rather than replacing this element, we chose to build upon it, ensuring that a meaningful piece of the school's heritage remained at the heart of the refreshed identity.
The work focused on refinement rather than reinvention. Color palettes were updated, visual relationships were strengthened, and the broader identity system was brought into greater alignment. These changes created a more contemporary and professional presence while maintaining continuity with the school's history and values.
The result was a brand that felt both familiar and renewed, honoring the past while creating space for future growth.
